Internal Audit / Risk Management/ internal controls and compliance

Years ago, an internal auditor who was a poor fit for our firm moved on to another company. On his last day, he asked me for advice. I told him three thingsFind the Right Fit: "Just because you didn’t fit here doesn’t mean you won’t fit elsewhere. We’re just one of 20,000 firms. You’ll find a place where you belong."Learn and Move Forward: "Whatever issues you encountered here, learn from them but don’t carry them over to your next job. Avoid second-guessing yourself."Reinvent Yourself: "The definition you had for yourself here doesn’t have to define you at your next job. You have a unique opportunity to redefine yourself and shape your new role according to your strengths and aspirations."That auditor took this advice to heart and has since achieved remarkable success, excelling and thriving in their career. It’s a reminder that not every firm is the right fit, and we all have the chance to learn, move on, heal, grow, and succeed.Find the place for you.

It is an absolute pleasure to share my pieces of advise to those trying to navigate the corporate world. I am proud to work for a company that puts development at the forefront of every role. Out of the 3 pieces of advise I’m shared, the below is the personably the most important to me."Most importantly, don't forget your career is your own. Don't let other people influence your career decisions. There are no right or wrong decisions and it doesn't matter if your journey isn't as obvious as those around you."As a self proclaimed generalist- it is key to take every opportunity available, push yourself out of your comfort zone, accept risks, learn new skills and take control of your individual path.#morrisons #Development

M&A isn’t just about buying or selling, it’s about facilitating the next chapter for a business. Every deal is different as is every vendor’s reason for looking towards a transaction. That’s the fun, listening to what a vendor wants and shaping something that delivers for them. The video depicts how we support businesses, open doors and create onward opportunities. You don't get promoted for doing your job.You get promoted for:- Kicking back more money than expected.- Making a connection in law enforcement - Working well & closely with people outside of your crew- Leading your crew well in an impactful money making initiative - Finding unseen, underlying rats & solving them- Doing a stint for the familyDoing your job well is great. It just means you will continue to do that job well. To get promoted, you have to go above.Beyond.Do more than your described job. That doesn't mean hours. It means money. Sometimes your family outlines exactly what that looks like (love those).Sometimes you have to guess (sorry, I hate it, too).Agree?

"Each of our schemes is about setting you up for a successful future career. Grace, our Manufacturing Manager: Account Management & External Sales, originally joined Morrisons on our Early Careers programme and has since worked her way up. Here's some advice from Grace..."Network! Creating and maintaining networks will be one of the most important things you do at Morrisons. The business is particularly a people business, driven forward by relationships, so your network will be your strongest advocates at work, in your day-to-day role and in your personal development.""Take every opportunity that is handed to you, but also challenge yourself to identify your own opportunities by spending time with other teams and departments.""Most importantly, don't forget your career is your own. Don't let other people influence your career decisions. There are no right or wrong decisions and it doesn't matter if your journey isn't as obvious as those around you."Think you're ready to take control of your career? Applications are still open for a select few of our schemes. Find out more at https://lnkd.in/efqxqKv

Lessons learned from the movie of The Goat life Staying in the company for a long time will make you lose a large part of your personality, and you will be surprisingly accepting of all kinds of unjust decisions, and you will remain silent for fear that you will struggle and spend months searching for a new job. Great stability in the company will make you emotionally attached to it, and you will always have a tendency to be lazy in everything, and you will delude yourself that you have achieved yourself in this place, even though all of this is an illusion. A lot of stability in the company actually increases the salary, but a slight increase. This increase is like a drug to make you give up your dreams and goals in order to exploit you. Too much stability will make you lose many parts of your skills because each company will develop in you a different skill from the other company.. You will remain strong in one skill and lacking in talent in the other skills that are the basis of your work. And when the company, for some reason, leaves its liquidation, or the expiration of a contract, or an emergency, you will find yourself falling from heedlessness, and you will find that the market has preceded you and developed with skills and talents that you were unaware of because of your long stability with one skill, and then you will discover that you are highly qualified. When I worked, I was bouncing from one company to another, and in a company I was told that I should stay in it for the longest period of time because my CV would not give me the impression that I was bouncing a lot. I adhered to this advice and settled in the company for 6 years, and with the passage of time when I left it, I began to feel that the one who established this principle were the owners of the companies in order to exploit you for as long as possible if they saw you as important or a gain for them.

“How are you settling into your role as Account Manager?” - Something I’ve been asked nearly every day since February.Honestly? I’m settling in nicely, but it’s only becauseON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS, I STAND.Up until very recently, one theme followed me. I’d land a position at a company and, within the first few weeks, spot processes and areas that can be improved. You’d think this is a gift, but it’s often felt like a curse. I’ve always felt a bit out of step, like I arrived too early at a party. And no one likes it when a newbie points out some inefficiencies, even when done diplomatically.Eventually, businesses would implement what I advised, or a version thereof, and begin to thrive, but I would be long gone by then. That’s all changed. For the first time in a career that spans 16 years, I feel like I have been set up to succeed, and it’s all because of these trailblazers.Dylan, who is meticulous and thorough, serves as a beacon of How To Do This™️. He is an absolute force - with a heart of gold!Crystin (sadly, not pictured here), who is as sharp as she is fierce, and loyal to the nth degree - to her clients and her team.Shannon brings enthusiasm and creativity to the role, constantly researching trends in the industry, and is driven by excellence.Stephanie-Anne, who so effortlessly supports her clients and teams alike, and never forgets that we’re dealing with humans. Like Shannon, one of her greatest strengths is that she does not tolerate mediocrity. And Greg (also not pictured here), who is an absolute legend among his clients, set the bar extremely high for lil' ol' me.Last week was a masterclass in best practice, client retention and staff development, and I feel blessed to have got to know them all better. Together, I have no doubt that we will elevate the services we offer our clients to another level.I’m not yet sure what I’m bringing to the table, but I’m excited to find out.One thing I know is that these guys and gals have made it extremely easy for me to settle into my new role.THANK YOU, team!#AccountManager #TeamEffort #Appreciation
